Case Study: Oakwood Web Database

Client: Oakwood Worldwide
(www.oakwood.com)

Industries: Hospitality & Real Estate

Profile: Oakwood Worldwide, headquartered in Los Angeles, CA, is known as the leading global provider of corporate housing and serviced apartments. "Corporate housing" describes beautifully furnished apartments, condominiums and homes, ideal for relocating executives and others in need of extended stay accommodations. Oakwood Corporate Housing takes leases on premium residential apartments and homes; we add our signature furnishings, and then sublet the units to our guests.

Oakwood also manages approximately 60 upscale housing complexes worldwide with the brand names of Oakwood Apartments, Oakwood Residences and Oakwood Premier. These facilities offer the additional comfort of onsite Oakwood hospitality staff and a range of services and amenities.

Oakwood Worldwide has locations in virtually every North American city and select destinations throughout Asia and Europe. In business since 1960, Oakwood is focused on providing the finest customer experience for its guests around the world.

Challenge: Oakwood Worldwide came to L.A.I.G. for a solution to two distinct needs:
1. Internally - The need to develop a user friendly, graphically-rich, web-based tool designed to give Oakwood's internal sales force in-depth information in order to better sell not only locally, but regional, nationally and globally.
2. Externally - The need to give clients/customers much more in-depth information regarding specific properties/subprojects, neighborhoods, directions, and schools.

Solution: After more than a year of planning and development involving employees throughout Oakwood Worldwide, the company and L.A.I.G. launched a "Property Profiles" database. This web-based interactive tool features sophisticated search capabilities, extensive information about each Oakwood property, dynamic maps, and over 5,000 photos of property interiors and exteriors.

Oakwood management has termed the Property Profiles "extremely dynamic." The company's regional managers (more than sixty in total) have the ability to update the database anytime and anywhere. While database viewing is carefully controlled for the intended internal usage, Oakwood sales representatives are able to electronically "invite" current and prospective customers to view a specific property profile.
